During this presentation, guidance, information, tools and resources developed by the Exceptional Children Division at North Carolina Department of Public Instruction will be shared.  This will include information target to both school systems and parents.

Sherry Thomas is the Director of the Exceptional Children Division at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.  She has held several positions in the Division, including Consultant, Section Chief and Assistant Director since 2007. Her background includes central office positions in an LEA as program specialist and diagnostician.  She has over 15 years’ experience in the classroom as a special education teacher, with a focus on Learning Disabilities. Her experience includes serving in several adjunct positions working with pre-service and lateral entry teachers at both public and private universities.
